How Can severe Foot Pain Be Treated?

My 12 year old son hurt his foot on Sunday hiking in the mountains. The pain is in the left foot along the exterior side edge, just above the bone that sticks out about mid way. It s still sensitive to the touch five days later. Should we get an X-ray, or give it more time before checking it out? He s a very active basketball player with a high threshold for pain, yet he s been limping around and mumbling about the pain.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are consistent with plantar fasciitis.

As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist you can consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

You might require steroid injection for further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
